The Dreamatorium of Dr. Magnus 2 12+

I enjoyed this game, found it entertaining. Plot kept me interested. Moderately challenging searches & mini-games. Great graphics as usual from Artifex Mundi. If you’ve played a number of these games like I have, they never seem long enough, finished in one afternoon. They recommend that you play the game with the sound on, but I would suggest turning it off so you don’t have to listen to the lame voice acting. I think they could have done better with that, but didn’t stop my enjoyment of the game.

Just because Artifex Mundi published this, it doesn't mean they had a hand in developing it. The real developer responsible for this stinker is Two Deperados, known for indie games. I'm normally easy on indies, but just cannot show leniency for this one.

The voice overs are horrendous (my dog could probably do better narration) with flat, emotionless tone and delivery. The interface is weird. The music stinks. A couple of the menu options make no sense. I could only get through twenty minutes before uninstalling. I may have missed out on a good game and perhaps sound picky and critical, but only those who've played other A.M games will know what I'm talking about. I'm just amazed that Artifex Mundi would put their name on this; I was hoping to see some semblance of them in this game, but no, it never happened.

Does this game have the most involving plot or best voice acting or cleverest puzzles? No. But, unlike games that require great dexterity or the ability to devine the never explained rules, I found it involving and enjoyable. The puzzles are interesting and doable. Not for hard core gamers but fun for people who like a more casual experience. I appreciated being able to try the game before buying it (through an in-app purchase), and not needing to buy anything else after unlocking it.
